Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to gender equality and poverty reduction, are crucial as we look at 2030. Many interventions and models on economic empowerment of women have been implemented over the last few decades in India.
However, land rights for women has remained relatively under-explored. And it has the potential to nudge several of these – some directly and some indirectly. While legal frameworks exist, social norms and implementation gaps still pose significant challenges.
The aim of this session is to engage diverse stakeholders, including government, NGOs, researchers etc. to unpack few questions including
1. SDGs link to women land rights
2. Status in India - What are we seeing in India? What are we monitoring and reporting on?
3. Understanding diverse stakeholders, beyond the obvious. Who are working on adjacent issues?
4. Options to create convergence and collaboration
5. What can be the next steps?
