The Second ILDC Regional Workshop in Karnataka, scheduled for 21–22 August 2026 in Bengaluru, will focus on strengthening the role of Panchayats in land governance amid Karnataka’s rapid urban, infrastructural and ecological transformation. The workshop will examine how the conversion of agricultural land, commons and peri-urban landscapes is affecting rural livelihoods, community rights and climate resilience.

The ILDC Regional Workshop held in Chennai in June 2026 brought together former panchayat presidents, community leaders and practitioners from different parts of Tamil Nadu to share experiences on the role of village panchayats in governing land, commons, waterbodies, forests, biodiversity and other natural resources.

The discussions demonstrated how local governments and community institutions had addressed complex challenges involving resource conservation, public access, social justice and land rights.

FLAGCCIP (Food, Land, Agriculture, Climate Change, Institutions, and People) was an initiative dedicated to fostering sustainable transformation in global agrifood systems through integrated modeling, data synchronization, and inclusive collaboration with local stakeholders. At the heart of FLAGCCIP’s mission lies a dynamic three-step approach, meticulously designed to pioneer sustainability within agri-food systems. This method blends data-driven precision, inclusive dialogues with stakeholders, and the development of actionable objectives and future narratives.

The second workshop under the ILDC Workshop Series 2023, titled “Land Tenure and Climate Change/Action: Connections and Implications,” was jointly organised by Azim Premji University and the Center for Land Governance on 8 July 2023 at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru.

Discussions explored how climate change affected land, vulnerable landscapes, and communities, as well as how adaptation and mitigation measures influenced formal and customary tenure systems, land administration, and people’s access to and use of land.

The first workshop of the ILDC Workshop Series, titled “Land Administration Innovation through Technology and Structural Reform: Policy and Practice Implications and Impact,” was jointly organised by FLAME University and the Center for Land Governance.

Discussions examined flagship programmes such as the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme, Bhu-Aadhaar, Matribhoomi and SVAMITVA, including their objectives, implementation strategies, monitoring frameworks, institutional innovations, citizen participation, dispute resolution mechanisms and early impacts.

The Land Conference in the North East India was a humble first step of India Land Ecosystem in this direction. NE India ex-emplifies and boasts unique and rich diversity in land govern-ance regimes which are witnessing a rapid transformation vis-à-vis contemporary development paradigms, generating op-portunities, challenges and risks for local community and other land actors, while underlining engagements by multi-actors from different sectors, across scale and levels.
