Sustaining ILDC
AN INCLUSIVE PLATFORM. A SHARED FUTURE.
A platform built
on many voices.

Building an inclusive and sustainable platform for land and development in India
Some of India's most important development questions are questions about land. Decisions about land shape natural resources, cities, infrastructure, livelihoods, investment, housing and the environment.
Yet the people working on these questions often operate across different sectors, institutions and disciplines, with limited opportunities to come together, exchange knowledge and understand each other's perspectives.
ILDC brings these conversations together.

The India Land and Development Conference brings government, civil society, communities, researchers, businesses, practitioners, students and other stakeholders into the same space to engage with land and development challenges. Over the years, ILDC has grown into more than an annual conference. It has become a space for exchange, connection and collaboration across India's diverse land and development ecosystem.

What makes
ILDC different
What makes
ILDC different
The most defining feature of ILDC is its inclusivity.
Land and development affect everyone, but different people experience these issues very differently. A policymaker sees land through one lens. A community experiences it through another. A researcher may bring evidence that challenges established assumptions. A business may bring a perspective shaped by investment and implementation. A practitioner may bring years of experience from the field.

All of these perspectives are necessary.
ILDC wants to avoid that.

Why sustainable
funding matters
There is a real risk that platforms become accessible primarily to those with the financial and institutional resources to participate. Over time, this can narrow the range of voices in the room and reduce the diversity of experiences and perspectives that inform the conversation.
Sustainable funding is what makes ILDC's commitment to inclusion possible over the long term.

FOUR WAYS TO SUSTAIN THE PLATFORM
ILDC is working towards a funding model that is broad based, transparent and sustainable. Different stakeholders can contribute according to their capacity and relationship with the platform.
01 / JOIN THE CONVERSATION
Participant registration
Participants who have the capacity to contribute towards the cost of attending ILDC do so through registration fees. This enables those who can contribute to share a portion of the cost of the platform.
02 / MAKE ROOM FOR ANOTHER VOICE
Participant sponsorship
Participant sponsorship helps enable students, community representatives and participants from smaller or resource constrained organisations to participate. This creates a direct connection between financial support and ILDC's commitment to ensuring that diverse voices remain part of the conversation.
01 / JOIN THE CONVERSATION
Session contributions
Session organisers contribute towards the cost of convening their sessions. Where an organisation does not have the resources to make the full contribution, ILDC can explore third party or joint sponsorship for the session. This approach allows valuable conversations to remain part of the programme without making financial capacity a condition for bringing an important issue to the platform.
04 / INVEST IN THE ECOSYSTEM
Institutional & corporate sponsorship
Businesses, foundations and institutions can support ILDC through structured sponsorship partnerships across Platinum, Gold and Silver categories. These partnerships provide an opportunity for organisations to contribute to the long-term sustainability of the platform and engage meaningfully with the wider land and development ecosystem.
THE PRINCIPLE BEHIND THE MODEL
Those who can contribute can help sustain a platform that needs to remain open to many voices.
The objective is not to place the financial responsibility for ILDC on any one group.
It is to create a broader ecosystem in which participants, institutions, businesses, philanthropic organisations and supporters can contribute in different ways and according to their capacity.

Different contributions. Shared responsibility.

Building the next decade
of ILDC
The 10th ILDC is an important milestone, but it is also an opportunity to think about the future.
A decade of ILDC represents years of conversations, relationships, knowledge sharing and collective effort. It has brought together people who may otherwise never have found themselves in the same room and created a space where different perspectives can inform one another. The next phase is about ensuring that this platform can continue to grow without losing what makes it valuable.

Be Part of Sustaining ILDC

More voices. More perspectives.
Stronger connections.

ILDC has been built by many people and organisations contributing in different ways. Its future will depend on the continued participation and support of this wider ecosystem.
We invite foundations, philanthropic organisations, businesses and institutions that believe in the importance of inclusive, informed and cross-sector conversations on land and development to partner with us.
Your support can help sustain a platform where more voices can be heard, more perspectives can meet, and stronger connections can be built across the land and development ecosystem.
Together, we can help ensure that ILDC remains an inclusive and sustainable platform for the conversations India needs to have about land and development.
